In 2018, Emory University successfully become a self-insured (self-funded) student health insurance plan. As a self-insured plan, Emory will operate its own student health plan with Aetna Student Health as the plan administrators. There are significant benefits to being a self-insured plan, one of which is being able to stabilize the plan’s benefits and maintain premium costs.

May 2020 Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Now Accepted

It is with great pleasure that EUSHS announces a confirmed managed care contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance products! This has been a long but necessary venture and we greatly appreciate the patience and understanding our parents and students have demonstrated over the years while we and our Emory Healthcare partners worked to resolve this issue. As with all plans, it is highly recommended that you contact your carrier to inquire about coverage and potential out of pocket expense responsibility. Please take a look at our updated financial, fees and insurance related concerns website page for further detail and information.

For COVID-19 related EUSHIP insurance changes, as of March 16, 2020, the following changes are in place for Emory students with the Student Health Insurance Plan:

  • EUSHIP will waive all out of pocket expenses, including co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance, for medical visits and/or testing related to COVID-19.
  • During this time, all referral requirements will be waived.
  • EUSHIP will cover medical visits when students are home and away from school. If students are seen out of the Atlanta area, medical visits unrelated to COVID-19, will be covered at:
    1. In-network benefit level of 80/20 after the $35 copay and $300 annual deductible.
    2. Out of network providers are covered at 60/40 after the $40 office visit deductible and $450 annual deductible.
    3. Mental health in-network providers are covered at 80/20 after the $10 copay and $300 annual deductible.
    4. Mental health out-of-network providers are covered at 60/40 after the $10 copay and $450 annual deductible.

Summer Student Enrollment:

Due to the COVID-19, on campus Summer enrollment has been suspended. If you are a continuing student and currently enrolled in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (EUSHIP), you will remain covered during the summer until the end of the policy year (7/14); Med/2YR MBA (7/31) International/Allied Health PA and (8/14) All other students.

Newly enrolled Summer students wishing to enroll in the EUSHIP, are eligible to do so on an opt-in basis. Due to remote learning, enrollment in the plan will NOT be automatic. To enroll in the EUSHIP, please contact the Insurance Office at 404-727-7560 or 404-778-6692.

Pharmacy Related:

  1. One Time Emergency Prescription Refills: EUSHIP is allowing the placement of a one-time emergency refill for a 14-day supply of medication.
  2. Early Refill Limitations: EUSHIP is waiving early refill limits on 30-day prescriptions for all drugs including acute, specialty and maintenance medications at any in-network pharmacy. These prescriptions can be filled ahead of their normal schedule at this time.
  3. Free Home Delivery from CVS Pharmacy: Beginning immediately, CVS Pharmacy will waive charges for home delivery of all prescription medications. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraging people at higher risk for COVID-19 complications to stay at home as much as possible, this is a convenient option to avoid going to a pharmacy for refills or new maintenance prescriptions. Additional information on the CVS free delivery program can be found at

EUSHIP International Refund:
