For COVID-19 related EUSHIP insurance changes, as of March 16, 2020, the following changes are in place for Emory students with the Student Health Insurance Plan until January 31, 2021:
- EUSHIP will waive all out of pocket expenses, including co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance, for medical visits and/or testing related to COVID-19 (doctor's order not required for coverage).
- EUSHIP will waive all out of pocket expenses, including co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance, for inpatient hospitalizations related to COVID-19 (through the end of 2021-2022).
- Referral requirements are waived for primary care and specialists visits outside of Student Health (visits with a SHS provider are available if needed but NOT required for insurance purposes).
- Students have access to an emergency 14-day maintenance medication refill or be allowed to obtain early refills as they transition their care and/or location. CVS will also offer a free home delivery
- Waiving the cost share (copays, deductible and co-insurance) for behavioral and mental health telemedicine visits.
- Those students who would have been eligible to participate in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan previous to the University’s COVID-19 response remain qualified to participate regardless of their physical location. Online students enrolled and making progress in their stated degree will be enrolled in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan by default unless a waiver is properly submitted and approved by the Sept 15th deadline.
- EUSHIP will cover medical visits when students are home and away from school. If students are seen out of the Atlanta area, medical visits unrelated to COVID-19, will be covered at:
- In-network benefit level of 80/20 after the $35 copay and $400 annual deductible.
- Out of network benefit level of 60/40 after the $40 copay and $600 annual deductible.
- Mental health in-network providers are covered at 80/20 after the $10 copay and $400 annual deductible.
- Mental health out-of-network providers are covered at 80/20 after the $10 copay and $600 annual deductible.
- Students can locate an Aetna participating provider in their area by accessing Aetna’s website here.
Pharmacy Related Information
- One Time Emergency Prescription Refills: EUSHIP is allowing the placement of a one-time emergency refill for a 14-day supply of medication.
- Early Refill Limitations: EUSHIP is waiving early refill limits on 30-day prescriptions for all drugs including acute, specialty and maintenance medications at any in-network pharmacy. These prescriptions can be filled ahead of their normal schedule at this time.
- Free Home Delivery from CVS Pharmacy: Beginning immediately, CVS Pharmacy will waive charges for home delivery of all prescription medications. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraging people at higher risk for COVID-19 complications to stay at home as much as possible, this is a convenient option to avoid going to a pharmacy for refills or new maintenance prescriptions. Additional information on the CVS free delivery program can be found at https://www.cvs.com/content/delivery.
