Courtni Andrews

I am a senior in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, graduating this year with both a BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and a BA in Psychology. I have been involved with Flourish Emory since last year after participating in Happiness Boot Camp and attending the Good Life Speaker Series. Therefore, I am super excited to be able to work extensively with Happiness Boot Camp and Flourish Emory this year with other faculty, staff and students! Outside of Flourish Emory, I'm usually running around on campus for activities, which include being President of Emory Anime Club, volunteering at the Children's Hospital right here on campus, and conducting behavioral neuroscience research at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center. For fun, I like to watch tons of shows with my friends back home (which are majority cartoons and anime), listen and break dance to music, and have random adventures whenever I can!

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012 with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. Following graduation, I served as an AmeriCorps member in Jacksonville, Florida where I provided reproductive and sexual health education and HIV testing and counseling. I am currently pursuing my MPH at Rollins School of Public Health in the Behavioral Sciences and Health Education Department. During my first year of graduate school I worked with the FUSCHIA Women's Research Study, as well as the Steppin' for Health program through HealthSTAT. This past summer I completed a community needs assessment of the psychosocial support programs available to sex workers at a human rights NGO in Cape Town, South Africa called Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Taskforce (SWEAT). I am thrilled to be working on curriculum development and facilitation for Flourish Emory this year!

I am currently a sophomore studying Psychology and Human Health. I have been involved with Flourish Emory for over a year and am passionate about the incredible progress it has made in such a short time. I have been working on Happiness Boot Camp coordination for most of this year and look forward to programming next year and the amazing campus-wide effects of Flourish Emory. In my free time I enjoy journaling, cooking, exploring restaurants around Atlanta, reading, and practicing Pilates. I am not yet sure of what I want to do in the future, but it will definitely involve positive psychology, mental health, and holistic well-being cross-culturally. I am interested in pursuing further education in public health or counseling and applying that knowledge to improve well-being within underserved populations.

I graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a BS in Global and Community Health and a minor of Business.   I am currently a second year student at the Rollins School of Public Health in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education.  In the fall semester, I conducted a community needs assessment of Flourish! Harris and am excited to build on that this semester by writing a training program.  My public health interests include health communication and mental health, so Flourish is a beautiful marriage of those for me.  I also work part time at CDC doing health communication.  In my free time I enjoy relaxing with friends, running the beltline, attending sporting events, and exploring Atlanta!

I am currently a senior at Emory College, and I will be graduating this spring with a major in Biology and a minor in Japanese. I have been involved with Flourish Emory since last fall, and have been working with students and faculty to help create an academic track focusing on positive psychology, flourishing, and wellness. The purpose of the track is to enable students to have an interdisciplinary and hands-on approach to improving their college experience and their life overall. In the future, I aim to incorporate positive psychology in my practice as a doctor of medicine. Some of my other activities include volunteering at the Winship Cancer Institute, planning out activities as Vice President of Emory Anime Club, and reading in my free time.

I am currently entering my first year at Rollins School of Public Health and pursuing an MPH in Epidemiology after receiving a BS this past May in Anthropology and Human Biology at Emory College of Arts and Sciences. I will be working with the Flourish Emory program this year and am passionate about fostering personal and professional development in the sphere of public health and amongst college students. My past experience includes work with DeKalb County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Emory Orientation, and Kirabo Seeds in Kampala, Uganda. For fun, I enjoy frequenting the DeKalb Farmers Market, running mediocre distances at mediocre speeds, playing pick up soccer, and exploring the vast array of trendy coffee shops in the area.
