Stress Clinic
Stress involves more than tense muscles. Nevertheless, effective stress management begins with bodily relaxation because it is difficult to feel or behave at ease when the body is tense. Tension points can range from tight shoulder muscles, to a rumbling stomach to grinding teeth. But it is only when tension buildup erupts via a headache or upset stomach that we finally become aware of this tension. Unfortunately, by then the physical damage has already occured. Even more important, once tenison has reached this high level, it is difficult to reduce. In the Stress Clinic, relaxation training and strategies for reducing anxiety are available for the tense or test-anxious student. Biofeedback equipment and stress management cassette tapes are on hand, also.
